Scott was born and raised in San Francisco and has lived on the Peninsula since 1983. Scott attended SF State University where he began his photojournalism. He has worked for local newspapers, including the San Mateo Times, where he shot news, sports, and features for about 10 years. His work has also appeared in the SF Examiner, the SF Chronicle, Gentry, and other Bay Area publications. In addition to his work for publications, Scott also shoots portraits and special events for companies as well as private individuals. "I like to blend in when I'm on assignment. Whether it's photographing children in school or CEOs of dot coms in their offices, I try to be unobtrusive and work with my subjects on their level, making them feel comfortable with me," Scott says. "And I go to where I have to to get the best shot. Sometimes that means crawling around on the floor, sometimes that means scaling 50 foot scaffolding." His work includes documenting projects, such as the current BART to SFO construction project, and taking pictures for annual reports or companies' web sites. He goes on location and shoots black and white or color. He holds a California Teaching Credential and likes to practice his Spanish and American Sign Language with his wife, Connie, and their son Zachary. Scott collects (and wears) neckties with fun designs including cartoon characters and superheroes. His clients include the Educator Magazine, Homes & Land Magazine, Genentech,Inc., BART, Family Services Agency, First National Bank, Daly City/Colma Chamber of Commerce, SSF Chamber of Commerce, Gilead Sciences, Golden Gate Highway and Bridge District, San Mateo County Superior Court, Walgreen's, Sequoia Hospital Foundation, Palo Alto Hospital Foundation, Ditto.com, and Imagine Media. Scott is a member of the Daly City - Colma Chamber of Commerce, South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, and the San Mateo County Better Business Bureau. Copyright © 2001 Scott Buschman.
