Scott Buschman is a well-known photographer in San Mateo County.

Scott can be found photographing events throughout the Peninsula, from county and city functions to the annual meetings of the Superior Court judges or San Mateo County Police Chiefs Association. Scott photographs everything from political events and portraits to scenic shots and weddings.

Scott also travels around the state for the California Educator, a monthly magazine that goes to 300,000 teachers, photographing teachers and students in action in our public schools.

As a teenager growing up in San Francisco, Scott photographed landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the Ferry Building, and Coit Tower.

After graduating from SF State and getting married, Scott moved to the Peninsula in 1983. His background is in photojournalism and he has worked for weekly and daily newspapers, including the San Mateo Times, for 15 years. His work has appeared in the San Francisco Examiner, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Gentry Magazine, as well as books and other publications. Scott shoots portraits and special events for companies, as well as private individuals. His son Zach has been a subject of many of his photos.

"I like to blend in when I'm on assignment. Whether it's photographing children in school or CEOs in their offices, I try to be unobtrusive and work with my subjects on their level, making them feel comfortable with me," Scott says. "And I go to where I have to to get the best shot. Sometimes that means crawling around on the floor, sometimes that means climbing 50 foot scaffolding, and sometimes it means running backwards in front of a moving car"

For fun, he likes to pract ice his Spanish and American Sign Language. Scott collects (and wears) neckties with fun designs including cartoon characters and superheroes.

Scott is a member of the San Mateo County Better Business Bureau, the San Mateo County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce, and the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.
